The Slate Belt Council of Governments includes ten municipalities and two school districts located in the northeastern tier of Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
“Our mission is to address local government concerns on a regional basis providing a neutral forum to discuss issues of common concern. When appropriate we will articulate common positions on major issues and our municipalities may individually opt-in or opt-out for the provision of programs, services and/or utilization of municipal equipment to spread costs and increase efficiency of service.”
Congratulations to
2011 Elected Official of the Year
John Kasten
John has saved the Bangor residents countless monies due to his grant writing skills and his never ending search for the best deal for the citizens of the borough. John was initially involved with the joint solid waste service request for bid. His background, knowledge, savvyness and good advice was most appreciated. As quoted from the applications, "I see up close who does their job and more, John, our Borough Manager is such a person".
